Why everyone should work with keyboard shortcuts

In my first job back in 1996 I watched how order processing worked in the old days using computer terminals: With the keyboard as exclusive input device, everybody worked at peak productiveness entering data. Even new employees got up to speed using the right keyboard shortcuts within a couple of days. Today, individual productivity in human-computer interaction is devastating. There is no question that the mouse was the single biggest failure to individual productivity in recent computer history. In today's global world, people are competing in who is the most productive. Individual human productivity really does matter since it is human productivity that enriches the world.

Keyboard shortcuts explained

A keyboard shortcut (also known as an accelerator key, shortcut key, or hotkey) is one or a set of keyboard keys that, when pressed simultaneously, perform a predefined task. Such a task could be done with the computer's pointing device, but would require the user to take his or her hands off of the keyboard, and then place them on said device. Hence, they are a shortcut in that they save the user time. (from: Wikipedia)
