Over the past 4 weeks, I added Shortcut Pages for Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe Reader 9, IE 8, and Outlook 2010. There have been some inconsistencies in the Windows 7 and Excel 2010 pages which were fixed. Other than that, I fine-tuned some of the design/layout to make it more readable, added a print-page feature and fixed some minor bugs on the site. All-in-all no dramatic changes, but constant small improvements will get this to a decent state.
The ‘new’ Shortcut World … thanks for your patience
This project of mine has been floating around since 2006. I was trying to revive it in 2008 after being encouraged by many friendly people mentioning the site in their blogs and posted an update in 2009. However, as everything was coded from scratch without any prior experience, I committed many sins in the early stages of database and code design which got me stuck completely. Over the past year I started to learn basics in object-oriented PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, relational Database Design, some WordPress, and Development Tools. I was able to apply some of that and the result is this re-designed version you are seeing today.
The ‘new’ Shortcut World went live today on July 18th, 2010. The architecture is more scalable and can be extended. While it is far away from being perfect, I am committed to improve it little by little. I pledge to update the project from now on in relatively short intervals and post the milestones here. If your are interested in the progress, please sign up through RSS or drop me a line to bernd@shortcutworld.com. Thank y’all for your patience.
